Colorectal Surgery Program

Our passion at the Colorectal Surgery Program is to provide the best possible and most compassionate care for patients who suffer from diseases related to the colon, rectum and anus.

With our same day or next day appointment policy, patients with acute pain or newly diagnosed cancer can be seen immediately.

Before and after surgery, each patient is reviewed by a team of surgeons, gastroenterologists, oncologists, pathologists and radiologists. This multidisciplinary approach ensures the best possible surgical outcome.

Whenever possible and appropriate, our surgeons perform less invasive procedures using state-of-the-art technology.  This is the cornerstone of our practice. We routinely use laparoscopy, robotics, trans-anal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS) and muscle sparing fissure surgery.  As a result, over 80% of abdominal operations are performed using minimally invasive techniques.

After colorectal surgery, patients are at risk of developing wound infections.  We have developed a multidisciplinary approach to reducing the infection rate and have assembled a team committed to this.  In addition, we take pain control very seriously.  All patients undergoing colorectal surgery are managed with a multi-modality pain control protocol that relies as little as possible on narcotic medications.

Our highly experienced surgeons are often uniquely able to maintain or restore continence when other centers are unable to provide such options.
